Pain in the Back of your Mouth
If your wisdom teeth are causing you problems they will probably let you know via pain. Your teeth have nerves, so if your wisdom teeth are not developing right, they may be pressing on your nerves. Whether you are eating, brushing your teeth, or chewing gum, if you feel pain where your wisdom teeth should be, it’s best to schedule an appointment with your local dentist for a dental examination.
Your Gums Are Inflamed
Another common sign of wisdom teeth problems is inflamed gums. Inflammation is a common sign of infection, and if your wisdom teeth are partially erupted, there may be exposed tissue that bacteria can infect. Plus, inflammation can be caused by the wisdom teeth themselves moving. You may notice your gums are red and swollen, and they may even be sensitive to the touch. If you notice that it hurts to brush your other back molars, your wisdom teeth may be the cause.
Sinus Problems
The state of your teeth can impact your sinuses. If your wisdom teeth are causing you problems, you may notice an increase in congestion, pressure or pain in the sinus area. While many people may overlook this common sign of wisdom teeth removal, if you experience any other signs, such as tooth pain, see your local dentist promptly.
Cysts
Cysts can develop with impacted wisdom teeth. Impacted wisdom teeth is when your wisdom teeth do not emerge. Cysts are basically sacks of fluid around your wisdom teeth that can cause severe damage to your wisdom teeth and to your neighboring teeth. Tumors can even form as well. Wisdom teeth can even grow sideways, impacting your neighboring molars as well.
What Does Wisdom Teeth Removal Look Like?
Nowadays, if your wisdom teeth are impacted, or have yet to come itn, you will be put under anesthesia. Your local dentist will make a small incision through the gum’s surface. If bone is covering the wisdom teeth that will be removed. Then the wisdom tooth is extracted and stitches are put in your mouth. If your wisdom teeth have already erupted, this dental procedure is less complicated as then it becomes a relatively simple tooth extraction. You may or may not need anesthesia in this instance.
