Tips on Keeping a Regular 6-Month Cleaning

It’s one thing to schedule an appointment at the dentist, it’s another to actually go to the appointment, and yet another to consistently schedule regular cleanings. We’ve all heard the benefits of regular visits to the dentist, but sometimes it can be a challenge to make it a habit.

At M Dental, our team wants each patient to have the healthiest teeth possible, so we work hard to create an environment that is welcoming and comfortable. But as hard as we try, it’s up to you to come visit us! If you’re not the best at keeping a regular six-month dental cleaning, here are some tips to make it a habit you can keep.

Dr. Mike Ma has been providing dental care to Mississauga and Scarborough for years and we love what we do. If it’s time for your next appointment, follow these tips and call today to schedule a cleaning!

Tips on Keeping a Regular 6-Month Cleaning

We Want to Get to Know You

We understand that it can be hard to get to know your dentist or hygienist when you’re laying down with your mouth wide open and tools poking around. But the next time you come in, get to know your hygienist before you sit down in the chair. We’ll also try to make casual conversation too. We honestly want to get to know our patients, so it’s worth taking a few minutes to ask you how you have been the last six months, if anything is new in your life, and we’ll be happy to talk about ourselves too! We care about the health of your teeth, but we also care about you as a person!

Schedule Your Next Visit at the Office

After a half hour cleaning, you may not want to stick around long enough to schedule a next visit, but this will ensure that you have an appointment in the books. Everyone has busy lives, and sometimes making a call to the dentist gets dropped to the bottom of the to-do list. When you schedule your appointment after your cleaning, we’ll make sure to send you a reminder a few days before so you don’t need to worry about a thing.

Keep Brushing and Flossing

Dr. Ma will never scold his patients about not brushing or flossing frequently enough, but we’ll make sure to let you know if we notice that your teeth could be healthier. If you want to avoid that uncomfortable conversation, brushing and flossing twice a day is the key!

Bonus Tip: If flossing isn’t your favorite thing to do at night, try flossing your teeth before brushing them. When you brush first, it can sometimes feel like that’s all they need and you’re ready to go. But when you floss first, this sets your teeth up for brushing and gets in an extra layer of protection.

Be Proactive

Regular cleanings at your local Mississauga or Scarborough dentist office provides a deep clean that you just can’t get at home. This will prevent future tooth decay, gum disease, and a variety of other health issues. A thorough cleaning is a great way to proactively protect your teeth as you get older.

M Dental wants six-month cleanings to be as simple as possible. If it’s time for your next check up, schedule an appointment with us today and we’ll do our best to provide service that keeps you coming back again and again.
